Lotus Landscape is a family-owned and operated business built on generations of horticultural knowledge and artistic vision. Our story began with Kevin Brannon, who trained at Roger Williams Botanical Center and shared his deep respect for nature with his daughter, Jaclyn Brannon. From a young age, she was taught to observe the details — the textures, rhythms, and quiet beauty of the natural world. Together, they cultivated a philosophy that blends horticulture with art. Today, Lotus Landscape continues to grow as a collaborative, family-led studio creating spaces that reflect the living artistry of our earth.
Meet Kevin
Founder and Owner
Kevin Brannon started Lotus Landscape in 1980 with his wife and a single truck. What they built from there — one property, one client at a time — became the practice Lotus is today, grounded in craftsmanship, plant knowledge, and a commitment to caring for landscapes over the long term.
His roots run back to the University of Rhode Island, where he studied horticulture and trained alongside seasoned horticulturists at Roger Williams Park Botanical Gardens in Providence. There he learned plant science the best way there is: hands in the soil, on public grounds that had to thrive in real-world conditions.
Over more than four decades across Providence and Rhode Island, Kevin has come to know this region's landscapes intimately — which plants will flourish where, how to work with tight urban sites, and how to turn a plan on paper into something that lasts in the ground. That hard-won field knowledge still grounds every Lotus plan, keeping good ideas rooted in what actually works.
Today Kevin remains an owner of Lotus, and the company he began is led by his daughter, Jaclyn — the second generation to carry the work forward. The relationships he built, season by season, are the foundation she continues to build on.
Meet Jackie
Owner & Horticultural Lead
Jaclyn Brannon grew up in her family's greenhouse and landscape business in Rhode Island — the company her father founded in 1980. Working there from a young age, she came to understand landscapes not as finished pictures, but as living systems, always growing and changing with the seasons.
She went on to earn a degree in Architecture, adding a designer's understanding of space, experience, and how people truly live in a place. Working in Connecticut and New York City, Jaclyn became known for bringing plant life into architectural and interior environments — treating planting as both ecological practice and living art.
Returning to Rhode Island, she helped evolve the family business into a modern horticultural practice. Today she leads Lotus Landscape as majority owner and principal, the second generation of a company now in its fifth decade; her father remains an owner.
Her work joins ecological knowledge with design-driven thinking. Through horticultural consulting, adaptive planting strategies, and long-term landscape management, every plan begins with observation — of the land, the light, the architecture, and the way a family lives — and aligns what a landscape should become with what it will take to care for it well. The result is landscapes that are resilient and cohesive, functional and expressive, and made to grow richer with time.
Jaclyn personally designs every Lotus property, with no departments and no hand-offs between design, installation, and care. That continuity is why many Lotus relationships now span generations of the same families. For Jaclyn, a garden is never finished on installation day. It is a living work of art, and her role is to steward it for as long as it is entrusted to her.
